This is an important role that requires care and accuracy. You'll work with a high-value inventory and thousands of SKUs, ensuring that each customer receives their order safely, accurately, and on time. This is not a shipping role that anyone can do. It requires a responsible and dedicated individual who has strong attention to detail. You must get it right the first time and every time. Because the role requires a responsible and diligent individual, you'll enjoy compensation that is greater than you might find in a more traditional shipping role.

We have full- and part-time positions available. The full-time position is Monday through Friday, day shift. To apply for the part-time position you must be available to work during the day on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

The Requirements

To be a strong fit for the Shipping Clerk opportunity you will have:

A high school diploma or GED
Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately match products to the correct order and shipping label
No visible tattoos

To be successful you will also need the following core characteristics and competencies:

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and follow directions
Adaptability and flexibility – a willingness to work overtime during our busy times and assist other departments during slower times
A can-do attitude and the ability to function as part of a team

Prior to hire you will also be required to pass a number of skill tests (basic math, matching detail, etc.), a drug test, and credit check.

The Role

As Shipping Clerk you will report to the Shipping Supervisor and join an efficient and fast-moving team managing shipping and double-checking. You will work in shipping, preparing orders, wrapping packages, building boxes, printing shipping labels, and loading and unloading trucks in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security and productivity. You will be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all your orders. We have approximately 6200 SKUs, so you'll need keen attention to detail.

Specifically, you will:

Efficiently review customer orders completed by double checkers, ensuring that the correct shipping label is attached to the correct customer package.
Appropriately assemble/package various types of merchandise for shipment. Quick question for you - click here
Stencil, tag or mark orders as necessary.
Carry or transport orders to the dock as required.
Rewrap and weigh any orders that require special handling as necessary; report quality variances.
Ensure each package is complete, accurate and free of damage.
Conduct physical inventories as required.
Aid in other departments as required if volume is light.
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Follow process and procedure guidelines; maintain or exceed quality standards, performance metrics and productivity goals.

Prime shift -- you will work a day shift during the work week. During our busy times (generally November 15 through January 15) you’ll need to be flexible and willing to work overtime, but during a standard work week you’ll be off around 5:00. You’ll also have an opportunity for weekend overtime during inventories, though you’ll have to have solid experience on the job before that will become an option.

Keys to Success

To be successful in this role you will need to move at a fast pace while still remaining accurate. While the team is friendly, you’ll find when you’re on the floor there is no time to chat. You’ll be handling high-value items and need to pay strict attention to what you’re doing. Your supervisor will help you get up to speed on processes and procedures that will assist you in your work. Detail orientation is something you’ll need to bring to the table. If you don’t have it, this role will not be a good fit.

To be an exceptional Shipping Clerk you should have a flexible “can-do” attitude and a willingness to work until the day’s goals and deadlines are met.
